A moving, living, breathing treasure chest stands before you.  Common sense, and the most basic lore might tell you that you should not attempt to open it.

This is afterall, a mimic.  Its race the bane of any foolhardy adventuring party, yet, oddly enough, it would appear he lacks the malevolent intent common in his kind.
